The first important thing to know about sushi is that “sushi” isn’t actually referring to raw fish rather the rice that has been seasoned with vinegar, salt and sugar. But when you go to a sushi restaurant there may be certain raw fish that are best to be avoided. Here are 6 things that you should never order at a sushi restaurant.
Bluefin Tuna
Often Bluefin Tuna will appear on the menu, but if you are an environmentalist in any way, shape or form, don’t order this. This fish is being overfished and are depleting as an exceptionally fast rate. Various environmentalist groups are attempting to put the Bluefin Tuna on the endangered list. In 2016, the sale of a 200 kg tuna sold for an astounding £80,000 ($118,000 USD) at the Tsukiji market in Tokyo. Instead of bluefin tuna, try yellowfin or albacore tuna.
